Biker festival will go ahead

A BIKER festival will go ahead at Long Marston Airfield after Warwickshire Police’s application for a licence review of The Bulldog Bash was rejected.

The annual event had been put under threat because of the force’s call for a review of the its licence.

But Stratford District Council turned down its application. It said it did not contain sufficient grounds to warrant a review to overturn last year’s decision, which had extended the licence until 2018.

Police called for a review because of concerns about rising levels of violence between criminal members of motorcycle gangs.

The festival has been marred by the fatal shooting of Hells Angel Gerry Tobin in August 2007. He was shot dead on the M40 by members of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club on his way from the event.

Organisers of the event said they were pleased with the decision and hoped to work with police to ensure the safety and success of this year’s show, which takes place from Thursday to Sunday, August 6 - 9.
