Bikie gangs thrive on Sunshine Coast

The Bandidos, the Outcasts, the Rebels and the Black Uhlans were all well established on the Coast, he said.

The Rebels, who have clubhouses at Kunda Park and Noosa, have the most members.

The Bandidos are based in Caloundra, while the location of Outcasts’ and Black Uhlans’ bases remains unclear.

The police expert said other gangs, such as the notorious Hells Angels, had a small presence in the region and police were monitoring them closely for fear they might expand.

The officer said the bread and butter of these gangs was the manufacturing and dealing of drugs, extortion and vehicle left.

“They (the gangs) cover from the bottom end to the top end of the Coast,” he said.

“They are organised crime groups, they are involved in various criminal activities and they use their crime group as a way to intimidate and manipulate fear within the community.

“They are constantly looking at maintaining and increasing members, and the fact that they have maintained their strength over the years means they have been successful.”
